Emergency shelter

Need somewhere safe?

If you’re 12–18 and need a safe place to stay, call Dorie’s House. You can call yourself or have someone you trust help. Staff will also want to speak with you directly.

If you can, call before you come. If you’re already here, come to the door.

Treatment admissions

Anyone can start the conversation.

You can contact Admissions yourself, or someone supporting you can make the first call. You do not need a completed referral package to ask questions.

Refer

Start with a referral.

A referral source completes the Residential Treatment Referral Intake with the reliable information and records already available. The provincial Mental Health and Addictions Primary Assessment is required before acceptance, but the referral can begin while it is being arranged.

Review

Admissions reviews the referral.

Dorie’s House reviews the information provided and follows up only where information is missing, has changed, conflicts with another source or must be confirmed directly.

Continue

If the referral moves ahead.

Admissions identifies any Early Support or Pre-Admission information still required. Not every form or section applies to every young person.

Plan

Plan the admission.

Dorie’s House works with the young person and relevant supporters or professionals to confirm medication, consent, transportation, arrival and other practical arrangements.

What if Dorie’s House isn’t the right next step?

We’ll tell you why and help identify the next step, such as another treatment program, detox or medical care, local addictions support, emergency shelter or waiting for a Dorie’s House bed.

For professionals sending referral documents

Referral and pre-admission information may include personal or health information. Call Treatment Admissions at 306-773-0567 before sending personal or health information to obtain the approved submission method. For ordinary referral questions, email admissions@southwestyes.com. Do not send personal or health information by email unless Admissions specifically confirms that method.

Medical readiness: If withdrawal, supervised detox or another medical or mental-health concern could make residential treatment unsafe, additional assessment may be needed before admission.
