The workplace

Residential work is ordinary life and serious responsibility at the same time.

BE PRESENT

Young people notice consistency.

Residential work includes everyday routines, meals, appointments, recreation, conversations and the steady presence that makes a house predictable.

USE JUDGMENT

Safety is part of every role.

Staff work within clear responsibilities, know when an issue needs clinical, medical or child-protection involvement, and document what matters.

WORK TOGETHER

No one role does the whole job.

Dorie’s House works alongside youth workers, organizational leadership, mental-health professionals, education support, families and community partners.

PROTECT TRUST

Privacy and boundaries matter.

People working at Dorie’s House handle sensitive information and are expected to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and respect for young people.

Before you apply

Working with youth comes with clear requirements.

Screening

Employment is conditional on the job-related criminal record and vulnerable sector screening required for the position.

Training

Role-specific requirements can include Safe Places certification, First Aid/CPR and other training within established organizational timelines.

Confidentiality

Staff must protect confidential organizational and participant information and complete required privacy and confidentiality onboarding.

Professional boundaries

Residential youth work requires sound judgment, clear scope-of-practice boundaries and knowing when another professional or service needs to be involved.
